SACRAMENTS OF INITIATION

BAPTISM: Parish membership and a parent class are pre-requisites (except in very special circumstances) for having each of your children baptized at our parish. Baptisms are celebrated on the 2nd Sunday of each month after the 10:30am Mass; and the 4th Sunday of each month during the 10:30am Mass. Please call the parish office to register for a class.

EUCHARIST: Baptized Catholics who have received their 1st Communion are able to receive the Sacrament.
Reception of 1st Communion requires parish membership, Sunday Mass attendance, religious instruction, and family preparation. Baptized children are eligible to receive their 1st Communion beginning in 2nd grade. In addition to the religious instruction your child receives at our school or in our religious education program, you are asked to participate in the sacramental preparation of your child. A preparation booklet and a parent guide are provided for you for $15.00. An informational meeting for parents begins the preparation process. Children continue the preparation process by attending class, completing their booklet with their family, attending a Sunday afternoon retreat, and being present each weekend for Mass. The 1st Communion Mass takes place on a Sunday during the Easter Season. Please contact the Director of Religious Education in the parish office for details and schedules.

CONFIRMATION: Sunday Mass attendance and religious instruction are pre-requisites for reception of the Sacrament. Baptized teenagers are eligible for Confirmation beginning in 9th grade. However, students must attend religious education classes at our parish in 7th & 8th grade in order to begin preparation for the sacrament in 9th grade. Confirmation classes are held on Wednesday evenings from 6:00pm-7:15pm. Please see the Religious Education page (tab at left) for the schedule. In addition to classes each week and the work that may be assigned, students are required to participate in service hours to the parish and surrounding community, attend a weekend-long retreat, and attend a Mass each weekend and Holy Day of obligation. The Confirmation date is set in conjunction with the Diocese and may occur in either the Fall or Spring. The preparation schedule is adjusted to meet Diocesan requirements. Please contact the Director of Religious Education in the parish office for details and schedules.
